YENDI SDGS CLUB
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Youth Club is the youngest club in the Yendi Senior School in the Northern Region of Ghana.
It is a subsidiary platform under the tutelage of the Youth Empowerment Synergy, Ghana (YES-GHANA).
The mission of SDGs Youth Club is to educate and sensitize the youth on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and develop initiatives that help youth succeed in becoming life-long learners, productive members of society, materially sufficient and self-respecting citizens.
At SDGs Youth Club, we work to realize a vision: a world where every young person has a real chance to benefit from and participate in the development processes at school, national and international levels.
One of the Prerequisites for Successful SDGs implementation in Ghana is the localization of the SDGs to promote citizens ownership. Sufficient public education is also required to generate mass support for the SDGs. Thus the club aims at providing opportunities for youth leadership and active participation in the national effort towards achieving the SDGs.
The club members at a general meeting agreed to be meeting every Wednesday of the week to discuss on the 17 goals, thus awareness of these goals will increase among young people in Yendi Senior High School and increase youth-led, evidence-based advocacy for critical issues affecting them.
